👀 Real talk: skipping school = skipping your future.
Every day you show up, you’re leveling up—learning more, hanging with friends, and getting closer to that diploma 🎓.
So don’t miss out. Be there. Your future self will thank you. 🙌

Members of the Student Government Association (SGA) are working hard to provide SHS students with a beautifully decorated Homecoming Dance. Thank you for all your hard work!

We would like to thank the families that joined us for our Title I Parent Night last week!
Families learned how to navigate Skyward, the SBHC and GoGuardian Apps and even how to apply for scholarships to save money for college!
If you were not able to join us, have no fear, we will have another night in January! If you just can't wait until then, take a look at the resources below and contact us with any questions.

Kudos to the SHS Social Committee!
We have reached the midpoint of the 1st Nine Weeks, and to commemorate this, staff enjoyed 'halftime' snacks while 'tailgating' in room 231.

👉High schoolers missing 2+ days a month risk lower grades, poor engagement, and not graduating. Chronic absenteeism affects 1 in 4 teens and peaks in 9th and 12th grades. Attendance builds future success—college, jobs, and confidence.

Monday's special guest speaker, George McKenzie, Jr, was THE most INSIGHTFUL & INTERESTING presentation we've ever had‼️ His journey by Amtrak train from Brooklyn to Highlands County was fascinating. A Live Wildly Adventurist & Nat Geo Explorer, he didn't have a traditional, easy path to his current career. We are better people after his intriguing presentation. Thank you Mr. McKenzie for investing your time in our students.

Attendance matters! Missing just 2 days a month (18 days/year) can hurt academic success. Chronic absence—excused or unexcused—is a strong warning sign for falling behind or dropping out.
Every day counts!
Every day counts!

DID YOU KNOW?
• Students should miss no more than 9 days of school each year to stay engaged, successful and on track to graduation.
• By 9th grade, attendance is a better predictor of graduation rates than 8th grade test scores.
• Missing 10%, or 2 days a month, over the course of the school year, can affect a student’s academic success.

CLARIFICATION: The Homecoming Football Game is October 24th.
Absenteeism in the first month of school can predict poor attendance throughout the school year. Half the students who miss 2-4 days in September go on to miss nearly a month of school.
