Monday's special guest speaker, George McKenzie, Jr, was THE most INSIGHTFUL & INTERESTING presentation we've ever had‼️ His journey by Amtrak train from Brooklyn to Highlands County was fascinating. A Live Wildly Adventurist & Nat Geo Explorer, he didn't have a traditional, easy path to his current career. We are better people after his intriguing presentation. Thank you Mr. McKenzie for investing your time in our students.

Attendance matters! Missing just 2 days a month (18 days/year) can hurt academic success. Chronic absence—excused or unexcused—is a strong warning sign for falling behind or dropping out.
Every day counts!

Illustration with students and school icons emphasizes attendance. Text explains chronic absenteeism as missing 10% of the school year, equal to 18 days, and its negative effect on academics. It stresses that missing school impacts students equally, whether absences are excused or unexcused.
DID YOU KNOW?
• Students should miss no more than 9 days of school each year to stay engaged, successful and on track to graduation.
• By 9th grade, attendance is a better predictor of graduation rates than 8th grade test scores.
• Missing 10%, or 2 days a month, over the course of the school year, can affect a student’s academic success.
